Gain access to the Linux internals of your Android device with Better Terminal Emulator Pro. It is the most advanced terminal emulator available for 1.5 (Cupcake) and later. Better Terminal Emulator Pro is suitable for use with the original G1 phone, Android Developer Phone 1 (ADP1), HTC Sapphire, HTC Magic, Samsung Galaxy, Motorola Cliq, Verizon Droid, Acer Liquid A1, and other Android devices. If you have a phone with a physical keyboard, Better Terminal Emulator Pro allows you to use the soft keyboard by tapping the screen when the keyboard is closed. It also includes an Enhanced Shell with command line editing, history, and filename completion to help you be more productive.

Better Terminal Pro was recently selected as Android App of the Day on the Truth Seeker Blog.

Better Terminal Emulator Pro is a Paid App, available in the Android Market. If you are using a device without Market Access, or wish to inquire about a site license for Better Terminal Emulator Pro, please Contact MagicAndroidApps.

Better Terminal Emulator Magic is a free application similar to Better Terminal Emulator Pro, but without the Enhanced Shell, and without the Virtual Direction Pad. It also has AdMob ads in it. Better Terminal Emulator Magic is usually one major version behind Better Terminal Emulator Pro. If you want the latest and best terminal emulator for Android without Ads, use Pro. The Magic version now works on all Android 1.5-2.1 devices.

File:IPerfIcon.png‎ iPerf for Android

iPerf for Android is a free application for measuring the performance of the network interfaces on your Android device. iPerf can perform TCP and UDP network benchmarks. iPerf requires two devices: one to act as an iPerf server, and another to act as an iPerf client. iPerf for Android can operate in either server or client mode, so basic testing can be performed using two Android devices; however, this is not ideal, as the throughput will be limited by the throughput of the slower device. For best results, use an iPerf server running on a Windows, Linux, or Mac computer.

The user interface is very basic (I plan to improve this) and essentially requires that you be very familiar with iPerf command-line parameters. Leaving the command line parameters blank, and pressing "Start" will display some information about each command-line parameter.

iPerf is a fairly elaborate and complicated tool to use, but does provide very good benchmarks. If you have problems using iPerf, search around the web for some hints.

You will also need to know the IP Address of the iPerf server you are connecting with. Here are some examples:

SIMH/AltairZ80 is a free application that simulates the Altair 8800, IMSAI 8080, and several other historical computer systems based on the Intel 8080, Zilog Z80 and the Intel 8086 microprocessors.

File:TongueTwister.png Tongue Twisters for Android

Tongue Twisters for Android is a fun application to demonstrate the Text-to-Speech (TTS) feature added in Android 1.6 (Donut.) It contains a database of tongue twisters, and can also be used to create memos and notes which can be spoken using TTS.
